The Origin of Sin According to the Bible and the View of the Christian Faith

At the beginning of creation Allah created the heavens and the earth. Then God created everything until in the end He created the first human, namely Adam and Eve as his companion to help maintain and care for all of God's creation. Until in the end God forbade His human creation to eat the forbidden fruit in the middle of the garden which Adam and Eve also ate because of the devil's persuasion. It is the devil who makes sin exist.

In the beginning angels had free will to decide and do what they wanted to do. An angel's rebellion against God makes angels turn into demons. Just like angels, God the Father has gifted us with three abilities that make us different from the rest of God's creation. Those abilities are free will, reason, and conscience. Free will is the ability we have to choose and decide to do something, whether it's the right thing or the wrong thing.

Function of Presence of Baptism

Before you read further about the origin of sin, it might be better for you to know the biblical meaning of sin first. The origin of sin according to the Bible begins when Eve decided to eat the forbidden fruit in the middle of the garden. This indicates that Eve did not believe in the good will and plans the Father had prepared for her. There are many examples of sinful acts in Christianity that we often do. There are many misconceptions about hereditary sin according to Christianity. Many explain that hereditary sin or original sin comes from parents or even comes from Adam and Eve. But, in truth, babies are pure and innocent.

The function of baptism is to help keep the baby in its development and growth later into an adult human to avoid the whispers of the devil that can drop a person into the pit of sin many times. The state of the world that has sinned makes every baby born into the world also has a tendency to sin later. The benefit of the sacrament of baptism as a sacrament that was first given is to help bind the relationship between humans and God. It can also be said that when you receive this sacrament, you have acknowledged and accepted the existence of God within you.

The Description of Sin According to the Bible and the Christian View

Although actually it would be better for you to understand the origin of sin according to the Bible as I have described above, but there are still several versions of the understanding of original sin or the origin of sin circulating among our society. The following will describe some of these versions:

1. Coming from Adam and Eve

At this first view, most people assume that all humans on earth have original sin because we are all descendants of Adam and Eve. This is because they are both humans who were on earth before there were other humans and committed sins and produced offspring. In this view, it can be said that every human being on earth inherits the sin that Adam and Eve had committed. Maybe some people who have this assumption often forget the purpose of Jesus' coming to the world.

The redemption was done by Jesus and by His presence, He restored the relationship between man and God which had been severed due to the sin of Adam and Eve. The meaning of penance is often misunderstood by many people. Many people think that penance is the same as meaning that our sins are washed away when this means that your sins will be forgiven but of course there are some things that you must do as a material for your penance. Perhaps this is more easily likened to the penance you get after confession. Penance is one way that you must do so that your sins are forgiven, besides that you must also try your best so that the same sin does not happen again.

2. Comes from parents

The second view is that there is an understanding of hereditary sin according to Christianity or also according to most people where the sin that we are born with is from our parents. This original sin is also known as hereditary sin. Because both of our parents have sin, we are born with sin. Since we were in our mother's womb, sin has existed and is attached to us.

So those are some views on the origin of sin according to the Bible that I can share with you. There may be more views that judge or provide an explanation of original sin. However, the best approach to understanding the meaning of original sin itself would be better to understand according to my description at the beginning of this article. Why so? Because the first one, the new baby will be entered the world had never done anything and he was indeed pure without sin. And secondly, although sin itself can be inherited either from the baby's parents or from Adam and Eve, but Jesus himself has come into the world and gave himself to sacrifice for humans to atone for the sins of humans themselves. Maybe to help you know the definition of original sin, it would be better for you to study and understand the explanation of forgiveness of sins in Christianity.
